Workout wear isn’t for athletes and workoutaholics anymore. It has increasingly become the new brunch, lunch, and dinner outfit for the everyday woman. Raw denim is now being replaced by your favorite leggings or yoga pants, and is must when grocery shopping or running your daily errands. Comfort is the new desire as this era of “athleisure” has taken women’s fashion by storm. Workout clothes are no longer being bought to sweat in, but instead, make a stylish fashion statement while still retaining comfort.
Our Style Icon for the week: Ms. Chanel Iman Robinson. At only 24 years of age, Chanel Iman is already a veteran Victoria Secret Angel. She is one of the youngest most successful African-American High-Fashion models of her time. She’s worked with countless world renowned photographers: Steven Meisel, Annie Leibowitz, Tom Munro and Kayt Jones, just to name a few. She’s graced the covers of magazines all over the world: Muse, Teen Vogue, Elle (UK)(Italy), Vogue (Korea) and Flare (Italy)(Canada). If that doesn’t impress you, she has walked for some of the top designers in the world: Christian Dior, Valentino, Balenciaga and Oscar de Larenta. In 2009, she was the first African-American model to walk for Gucci in 8 years. Chanel has been breaking down diversity barriers on the runway since the start of her modeling career. Now, Chanel is adding another component; actress. Defying the stereotype of just another pretty-faced model, Chanel makes her debut as Lily in the new move Dope, which premiered in June 2015.
