Santigold has always set herself apart from her contemporaries musically. Her bright summer vibes on her first release, "Creator," always teased a deeper dancehall soul. Now, with her most recent release, "I Don't Want: The Gold Fire Sessions" she has taken that blueprint and spread it across a whole record. Produced by the almighty Dre Skull, the record is simply a dancehall mixtape. The tracks blend together, the familiar Caribbean horns and sirens introduce each song, and at times Santigold channels the rhythmic and vocal-stylings of some of dancehall's royalty, ala Sister Nancy. The project is more than just one of our favorite mixtapes of the summer, it is a signal to all that are paying attention, dancehall is here to stay. Check out the full mixtape below:
