New dancehall artist making waves in the scene is Montego Bay native, Rygin King. The budding artist performed at Reggae SumFest taking the stage for the first time. The fast rising star felt he had to prove something since the event was held on his own turf. He didn't want to get the likes just because he was performing on his own soil. The Mobay artist has released a steady flow of singles since late last year that many dancehall fans are vibing to. In an interview with, The Star, he boasted,

"I'm already a king in dancehall, and I'm not self-praising or anything, I'm just going off people's reaction. Dem a say one king and a one king. There's no competition, enuh. We're good. I have no segregation in my career. I'm out here doing me, they're doing them, so big up the artiste dem weh come before me." 

His newest song, "Legacy," was featured on the Lee Mila produced Legacy Riddim which also featured Jahmiel, Tifa, and Deizzle . Listen to Rygin King's track here on Kingston To LA. 

The new sensation born, Mathew Smith, is a 23 years old artist who used to go by the stage name, Jah B, until he says his 'ego took over' and now goes by, Rygin King. Calling himself dancehall's 'young king' and also 'one king.' His musical career really took off after high school and believes his hard work and unique way of relating to the people has helped with his come up. He is a versatile artist with a style all his own calling it 'dancehall trap.' The song that helped get him on the map is, "How Me Grow." The single was released last year and the music video debuted In April of this year.
